Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains what information the Video & Music Downloader Android app (the “App”, “we”, “us”) collects, how it is used and shared, and the choices you have. By using the App you agree to this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
1. Summary
- We do not ask you to create an account and we do not collect your name, phone number, contacts, photos or precise location.
- Music and videos on your device are read only on your device to show and play them. They are never uploaded.
- Files you download are saved on your device. We do not store copies of them.
- We collect limited technical and usage data to run, secure and improve the App, as described below.
- We do not sell your personal information.
2. Information we collect
2.1 Information you provide
- Links and search terms you paste, share to the App or type in the search box, so the App can find and download the content you asked for.
- Feedback or support emails you choose to send us, including any information you put in them.
- Link reports you choose to submit when a link does not work (the link and the reason you pick).
2.2 Information collected automatically
- Device and app information: device model and manufacturer, Android version, app version, language and region settings, time zone, the app store the App was installed from, and install referrer information.
- Network information: mobile country and network code, and whether a VPN or proxy is in use (used for security and fraud prevention).
- Identifiers: the Google Advertising ID (where available and permitted by your device settings), the App Set ID, and random identifiers generated by the App or by Firebase.
- Usage information: screens opened, features used (for example search, playback, download start/finish/failure), searches performed and content identifiers or titles of media viewed or downloaded, and approximate timing of these events.
- Diagnostics: crash reports, error logs and performance data (for example how long playback takes to start).
2.3 Information that stays on your device
- Music and video files (Android “music and audio” and “photos and videos” permissions) are used only to list, sort and play your media inside the App. You can allow access to all media or, on Android 14 and later, only to selected videos.
- Your playlists, favorites, play history, download history, settings and the private folder are stored locally on your device and are deleted when you uninstall the App.
3. How we use information
- To provide the App’s core features: searching, playing and downloading content you request.
- To load the App’s remote configuration (feature availability, region-specific settings).
- To keep the App secure, prevent abuse and fraud, and comply with legal obligations.
- To understand how the App is used, fix crashes and bugs, and improve performance and features.
- To answer your feedback and support requests.
- If advertising is enabled in a future version: to show ads and measure their performance (see Section 5).
4. Third-party services
The App uses the following services, which process information under their own privacy policies:
| Service | Purpose | Policy |
|---|---|---|
| Google Analytics for Firebase | Usage analytics | Google Privacy Policy |
| Firebase Crashlytics | Crash and error reporting | Firebase Privacy |
| Google Play Install Referrer, App Set ID | Install attribution, analytics, fraud prevention | Google Privacy Policy |
| Google AdMob and mediation partners | Advertising (only if enabled — see Section 5) | How Google uses information from sites or apps |
We also operate our own servers for the App’s configuration, usage events and error logs. Data sent to them is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS).
5. Advertising
The current version of the App does not show ads. A future version may show ads provided by Google AdMob and its partners. If it does, these providers may use the Advertising ID and similar information to show and measure ads, and — where required by law (for example in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland) — the App will ask for your consent first. You can reset or delete your Advertising ID, or opt out of personalized ads, in your device’s Settings › Google › Ads (or Settings › Privacy › Ads).
6. Content you download
The App is a tool. You are responsible for the content you download and for respecting copyright and the terms of the websites you use. Only download content you own or have permission to download.
7. Data retention
- Analytics data is kept for the period configured in Firebase (up to 14 months).
- Crash reports are kept for up to 90 days.
- Configuration and usage-event records on our servers are kept only as long as needed for the purposes above, and generally no longer than 24 months.
- Support emails are kept as long as needed to handle your request.
- Data stored on your device is deleted when you uninstall the App or clear its data.
8. Security
We use industry-standard measures, including encrypted transmission, to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information.
9. Your choices and rights
- Permissions: you can grant or revoke media, notification and other permissions at any time in your device settings. The App keeps working without them, with reduced features.
- Advertising ID: you can reset or delete it in your device settings.
- Delete local data: uninstall the App or use Settings › Apps › Video & Music Downloader › Storage › Clear data.
- Access or deletion requests: depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or US state privacy laws), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or restrict the use of your personal data, or to object to its processing. Contact us at the email below and we will respond within a reasonable time.
10. Children’s privacy
The App is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
11. International transfers
Our service providers may process information in countries other than yours. Where required, appropriate safeguards are used for such transfers.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The updated version will be posted on this page with a new “Last updated” date. Significant changes will be announced in the App or on its Google Play page.
